Don Imus and Alan Jones

April 17, 2007 by Jen at Semantically driven

It occurred to me after watching Media Watch regarding Alan Jones last night and having heard a bit about the Don Imus controversy that there are similarities but there are some big differences too.

The similarity is the racism by exhibited by both and the difference is that Don Imus was sacked but Alan Jones doesn’t look like being sacked any time soon. How would he be sacked when the Australian Prime Minister John Howard is a big fan. A lot of the public are big fans too, if the comments on the radio station 2GB regarding the recent Australian Communication and Media Authority (ACMA) findings about his breaching the commercial radio code are anything to go by.

Not living in Sydney I don’t get the opportunity to listen to Alan Jones and even if I did, I probably wouldn’t because our views are so different.

Kim over at Larvatus Prodeo talks about Don Imus and Alan Jones in more detail.

Popped along in view of your recent comment in the hope of crossing the great divide between the continents.
    Best wishes
