Playing with my new toy

September 1, 2011 by Jen

Trying out my new lens with my willing model. Day 275/365.

Thursday, 25 August 2011, Day 275/365.

I’ve mainly used my iPhone for my photo a day project photos but I have a DSLR camera too. Sometimes I yearn to take it out its camera case and get shooting.

Last Thursday I bought myself a new camera lens – a Canon 50mm f1.8. I’d been reading about prime lenses (the ones where you can’t zoom in or out) and I thought I’d give it a go. I also asked my pals on Twitter and the ones that answered my callout agreed you can’t go wrong and that I’d love it. The beauty is that it doesn’t cost that much either.

So as soon as I got home from work I got the camera out, put the new lens on and got my son to pose for me. He’s not one to pose without his tongue hanging out for the most part but this captures him and his personality perfectly.

I’ll have a few more shots taken with this lens over the next week or so too.
