First trip away

April 28, 2010 by Jen

So when you’re in a new relationship I think a big test is the first trip away together. Ours was on the weekend and to compound it we had his two kids and my one. I was a bit nervous – not because of him and me, but because of the childrens’ dynamics. They have met before but haven’t been locked up in close proximity for four or more hours before.

The kids were niggly with each other. Things like don’t touch me, leave me alone, don’t do that – don’t do that – DON”T DO THAT!. The last bit was mainly directed at my son who has a habit of not getting it the first time.

We stopped about halfway the first time at a lookout to stretch our legs and to have a look at the view. I’ve driven past here many many times and never gone up to this lookout so it was good to finally do it.

The long blue strips you can see in the foreground are lots of covered grain that doesn’t fit into the silos. They’re waiting for ships to come and load them up and take them away to whereever they go.

The driver is grinning and bearing it – I think!

The lookout is a meeting spot and a graffiti spot. As we were there, a couple of cars arrived to join the couple already there and a little party was starting.

We stopped for about 15 minutes before loading back into the car and heading on our way.

More to come.

Well, I’m anxious to hear about the “more to come” part Jen. That trip was a pretty big thing for you, wasn’t it?

JJ looks so tall to me…gosh, he’s growing so fast. Hugs, Joy
