Belated birthday post

October 23, 2005 by Jen at Semantically driven

Birthdayshrine

This is my birthday shrine. As I said I had a pretty good birthday haul and this showcases some of it. It was done in the blink of an eye while I was out of the room and I would say they did it because the cushions and the clock match so well.

My birthday celebrations highlight was on Saturday night when I had some really good friends drop-in to have celebration drinks before we hit the town. We were having such good fun I wouldn’t have minded staying in but we had already decided to go out and it was me who organised which tram we should catch.

By the time we caught the tram we had polished off a bottle of vodka and numerous bottles of sparkling red and some beer. Needless to say we were all fairly drunk and quite raucous on the tram trip into town. I remember paying for my tram ticket but a couple of people didn’t. We think the tram conductor was scared of us, scared that we might pounce on him?

We ended up at the Crown and Anchor because of the music. A Melbourne band was playing, ‘Sounds Like Chicken’. I think I’ve got that right. They were described as ska music but there was a strong punk influence in there too. I enjoyed them.

One of the objects of having an all girls night out is to meet new people, especially men, but I just wasn’t in the mood this night which is absolutely stupid because I don’t get out that much and any opportunity I have I should pounce on. My sister ended up being the one surrounded by men and getting a lift home with them and she’s got a boyfriend.

Regardless of that, I had a really good night, even though my sore throat is still paying the price.

So glad you had such a good night Jen. Sounds like you have some really cool friends. Hope your sore throat gets better fast.
