Gratitude #nanowrimoprompt

November 1, 2016 by Jen

Lankayan Island

Am trying this write a bit more thing, ie one post a day for November, by following prompts that Karen Andrews setup a couple of years ago.

The first prompt, and post, is gratitude. Hopefully it’s not the last.

What is gratitude? It is ‘the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.’

Perhaps I can be grateful to Karen for creating prompts for me to follow. This blog has been collecting dust for a few months now and was in decline before that. I do think of it every so often and wonder if I’ll ever get back to it, and then I don’t. It’s so easy to think isn’t it? Not so easy to do. And once you get into that cycle of just thinking about something and not doing it becomes a habit.

I love to read and I created this blog because I like writing as well. I said to someone the other day that as this was predominantly a parenting blog and the subject has grown into his teens I’m not really in a position to tell his story – that’s up to him. Although I’m sure little snippets will make their way here if I continue. It’s hard for them not to as he’s such a big part of my life.

But, I’d like to find my writing mojo (outside of work) and perhaps this is a way of getting into a habit and just seeing what happens.

But back to gratitude. I am really grateful that I got to go on a holiday for a couple of weeks recently to a great place, including staying on a tropical island for a few days. I’m also grateful that travelling with my son was a really good experience for both of us.
