Jaycee Junior has done some entertaining things, lately which I will share with you. Do not bother to read on if you have no interest in what three year olds do. I put him to bed last night and read him a story and he let me leave the room without a fuss. Lovely. I went back in an hour or so later to check up on him as I like to make sure he’s comfortable and still has some covers on as even though it’s Spring here now it’s still a bit cold at night. I looked at his face and he was snuggled in nicely under the quilt, then I looked down the bed for some reason and saw his nappy there. Mmm, I thought, that should be on his bottom in case he wets the bed (he still wears a night nappy and it’s wet in the morning 60% of the time). I looked further and realised he had taken his pyjamas and singlet off also. I took of the quilt and my suspicions were confirmed that he was totally naked.
I would have left him like this except for the cold weather and the wet bed factor so I had to get him dressed. This is another situation where it would have been handy to call the man in my life to give me a hand. It’s very hard dressing a 20kg boy when all he wants to do is sleep and roll over. The singlet and pyjama top didn’t pose too much of a problem to put on but the nappy was a different matter. He kept trying to roll over because he was half asleep and then started crying when I kept trying to push him onto his back. Eventually got him dressed and stayed there for a bit until he calmed down.
This morning I heard him get up and go to the toilet. When he came in the nappy was gone again and his singlet was half on, but he had his pyjama pants on. I think when it’s warmer at night I’ll just let him go to bed naked and I think he’ll be fine going to the toilet by himself if he needs to.
