It’s been all go recently in the Jaycee household and for me at work. I’m filling in for my boss at work and I’ve been flat out. It always seems that I’m either not very busy or very very busy – never quite a happy medium. Oh well, today has gone really quickly. I got in a 8.15am and it’s not 4.30pm and the day’s flown. Last weekend was mainly taken up with house stuff as I’m still painting my bedroom. The ceiling and walls are all finished now. I’m just stuck with preparing the woodwork which includes skirting boards, chair rail and fireplace so there’s a reasonable amount of preparation work here. Oh, and I haven’t scraped all the paint off the door but the bit I have done has just peeled off which means last time it was painted it wasn’t prepared properly.
We managed to fit in a first birthday party which wasn’t too bad. I think as far as kids birthday parties go, first birthday parties are the best as they are usually more for the parents actually making it through the first year and surviving to tell the tale. There were a few older kids there so we endured one game of pass the parcel and the rest of the time was spent eating, drinking and talking.
I had a couple of friends over on Sunday night for dinner and they’ve got one child each around my sons age. One of them I’ve nicknamed monkey as she climbs up everything. It was a real shock for me as my son doesn’t do that. She also managed to make all the bread fall out the packet, and have a good look around my kitchen cupboards. I find dinner parties stressful as it’s only me doing the cooking, cleaning, hostessing and washing up so I don’t do it very often and when I do I keep the numbers right down. In summer it’s a bit different having a few people over for a barbeque.
Monday was Adelaide Cup day and as usual on this day it rained but I offloaded the kid for the afternoon and got stuck into some painting. I get my wardrobe installed tomorrow so I should be back sleeping in my bedroom within the week. Can’t wait. I can’t remember where all my clothes and shoes are.
