Yes, it was hell for me this morning and I did burst into tears, but as I sit at my desk trying to work, I remembered last night. I read Jaycee Junior at Dr Suess book called ‘Oh, the places you’ll go’ which I got before I went on my first overseas holiday nearly 14 years ago. I was only going to read some of it because I was so tired myself but I couldn’t resist reading the whole lot.
It had useful tidbits for me too, like being in a slump and it being hard to get out of a slump. I’ll try and remember this book for when I need a boost.
I read it to him, and then he read it back to me. I laid there on the bed next to him just about falling asleep while he read to me (his interpretation of the book of course, as he can’t actually read yet but I do like his interpretations) and then he said that I hadn’t read this page. He was right, somehow I’d skipped over that page accidentally. I read it then struggled out of his bed so he could go to sleep.
He loves reading at the moment. When I picked him up from childcare the other day, I couldn’t see him and I was told he was in the book corner with his mate (he’s starting to hang around with boys more than girls now) reading a book. They commented about his love for books.
I found this website just now which has tips about avoiding and dealing with tantrums – the three year old kind – not the mother of the three year old kind.
