Bridesmaids

June 24, 2011 by Jen

We didn't see this one. Day 206/365.

Friday, 17 June 2011, Day 206/365.

We were going to see Super 8 but at the 11th hour my significant other suggested we go and see Bridesmaids.

I was surprised he wanted to see it but was quite glad to be a part of it. I thought that after dragging him along to see Sex and the City 2 that he would have sworn off ‘chick flicks’ for life. But Bridesmaids is definitely a unixsex movie I think. The Surfer agrees with that.

I thought it was hilariously funny and I laughed a lot. I laughed so much I snorted more than once but I didn’t care one little bit.

Despite what our Aussie movie critics Margaret and David thought (not much) I thought there was a decent story behind all of that hilarity, with character growth of the main characters. Obviously I don’t mind a bit of potty humour but there is more to it than just potty humour.

Sore knees

June 23, 2011 by Jen

Stocking up on fruit. Day 205/365.

Thursday, 16 June 2011, Day 205/365.

I made a trip to the local market and it’s much much better than buying food in the supermarket.

The food is newer, I hope, and it’s certainly cheaper. I bought strawberries for about $2 cheaper per punnet than at the supermarket and bananas were $2 a kilo cheaper too. They’re still around $10 per kilo at the moment though because of the cyclones and bad weather in Queensland earlier in the year.

I’ve started making more fruit and yoghurt smoothies just so I can make some powder (a glucosamine type thing) I’m taking for my sore knee joints more palatable. You’re supposed to drink it with water but it smells and tastes hideous and makes me dry retch the two or three times I tried it.

With a fruit/yoghurt and milk smoothy I can barely taste it and if I hold my nose while the container’s open I don’t have to smell it at all.

Catching the tram

June 22, 2011 by Jen

On the tram. Day 204/365.

Wednesday, 15 June 2011, Day 204/365.

I somehow managed to get a seat this morning and surreptiously took this photo.

While I don’t really enjoy catching public transport to and from work it does have its benefits. I don’t feel like driving either. Let someone else have the stress of that.

I get to listen to people’s conversations on their various phones. I’d much rather do that than listen to someone’s second-hand music through their earphones. That really annoys me.

Last night a woman got on with a guide dog or a helping animal. I don’t think this woman was blind. Anyway she and the dog sat right next to me and she eventually told me that the dog is still being trained. The dog was a gorgeous black labrador and because the tram was packed was nestled right up against my legs. I wanted to reach out and pat her but luckily I didn’t because there was a notice on its outfit that read, ‘don’t touch’.

I usually have to stand up on the tram and I can handle this unless I’m feeling sick or if it’s really crowded.

So, I must get ready to go and catch  the tram to work today.

Eye spy with my little eye

Look both ways. Day 203/365.

Tuesday, 14 June 2011, Day 203/365.

I took this photo at work. Nobody was around that I saw. You can see me and my workspace in there somewhere.

I first thought these were cameras but they’re mirrors for when you come out of another corridor so you can see someone walking the other way and avoid them.

Take a photo of me

June 20, 2011 by Jen

You can take a photo of me mum. Day 202/355.

Monday, 13 June 2011, Day 202/365.

Sometimes I get to the end of the day and realise I haven’t done my photo for the day.

I was scratching around for an idea this particular day and my son said that I could take a photo of him if I wanted to.

He is so photogenic so why not.

A couple of days prior we’d been to a party where he was the only child. He was so well behaved and so grown up and made a great impression on the other guests.

On the way home – about 8.30pm – he fell asleep in the car and when we got home I realised he hadn’t had a shower for a few days. With various commitments that week it just hadn’t happened. A big argument ensued where he refused to have one. I ended up taking his favourite things to do in the morning away from him because he’d refused to have a shower. He then went off to have it but I didn’t back down on the punishment.

I felt a bit mean because I knew he was tired but a shower doesn’t take long and I really felt he needed it. And guess what? He was as good as gold the next day.

Chores

He's washing my car. Day 201/365

Sunday, 12 June 2011, Day 201/365.

He’s pretty good with helping me out really. Sometimes he even offfers to do something without me asking him.

The Surfer got one of those high pressure water spray contraptions for his recent birthday and he christened it last Sunday by washing his cars.

JJ wanted to wash ours so of course I let him.

I think the car always drives better when it’s clean.

Candles. Day 200/365.

Saturday, 11 June 2011, Day 200/365.

Now it’s winter and things are a bit grey because of the weather I notice the brighter things.

These candles were in a friend’s backyard so I took some time out from the indoor gathering to go and take some photos.

I must get the other ones off my phone because there’s some other good ones there.
