Sleeping more and eating more

July 14, 2007 by Jen at Semantically driven

Do your kids eat and sleep more when they’re going through a growth spurt?

The eating more bit is probably a given but I’ve noticed that JJ is sleeping more as well at the moment.

It used to be that if he watched a video at night before he went to bed, that he’d stay awake until the very end even if his eyes were falling out of his head with tiredness but during the school holidays I’ve let him watch tv at night and he’s fallen asleep each time.

He’s just turned six years old and he eats as much as me. I really dread to think about what he’ll be like in years to come. I often joke that I will need a second job just to pay for his food. Unfortunately I don’t think it is such a joke, but could be reality.

I know he’ll sleep more then too and will hate when I wake him up. Mmm, payback!

    Absolutely–when they’re growing they’re always eating and when they’re not eating they’re sleeping.

    Boys = sleep + eat
    Yes, it is a worry, I found that I began shopping frequently rather than weekly, no matter how much I bought, he would eat out the pantry!
