I don't have a kid yet, but I have a little brother who is over 15 years younger than me. My mother doesn't like to drive, so she never was a taxi mum. She let my father or other mothers take us to sports activity. Now she has it even better. She can order us older siblings to drive the youngest. Everyone does it once in a while, so the taxi work is split between us and not much work for each person.

You go Mama! Love the pics. I've also become a huge sports advocate for my kid.

It's not only great exercise -- and a really good way to learn how to get along -- but I'm convinced that this kind of focus and dedication must be good in the long run, yes? We're off to ice skating.... followed by soccer!

Joy I can only imagine how busy you were carting them all around to their various sports. JJ starts football (the Australian Rules kind) in a few weeks so looks like I'll be carting my camera out to the footy field rather than sit at my laptop with my hair all over the place at this time on a Saturday. Just as well I love him ey?

Doesn't JJ look great? This is the best thing for him Jen. Sports teaches him so many valuable things and helps him grow in so many areas. Three of my kids were involved in sports. Julie and Jory were involved in cheerleading in middle school, but were in a YWCA program where they played sports...basketball, soccer, etc. In high school Julie played volleyball and soccer and Jory played volleyball, soccer and was on gymnastics. My son, Joe, played baseball all his school years; but loves basketball and football too.

I think sport or any activity certainly has a good influence on kids in many ways. I think I'll end up a taxi mum too, but if it keeps Boo on the straight and narrow path, I'm all for it :)

Well done JJ. I love indoor soccer myself so know why you have enjoyed it too

Jeanie make sure you let me know when you come to Adelaide for Womad.

I've got a mesh bag and they are pretty small. I should leave some in my car.

Sorry I haven't been around, and so am doing one of those patsy "comment on everything in one post" comments!

Thanks for the Womad music - one day I will venture to Adelaide again for the joy, I am sure!

I won some wonderful vegie bags from Bettina's blog a few months ago - mesh bags that can be reused - and they are among those invaluable aids to reducing plastic here.

'Salina has a love/hate relationship with team sport, but I really think it has done her the world of good! I am so glad JJ is getting such value out of his activities - sometimes kids just need that bit of energetic focus!
