Cross posting is great, but you should pay attention of the side effects.

If one of your friends is following you on different social networks Twitter, Jaiku, Plurk, Facebook, he will receive your message 4 times! If this friends is also one of your friends on FriendFeed, he will receive this messsage 8 times.

This is why at http://www.mixin.com (a microscheduling service) we are implementing a solution that allows you to choose if you also want to publish to others social networks based on the importance of your message.
